Featuring concert performances by Ballet Afsaneh - the Bay Area's critically acclaimed Silk Road performance ensemble, Yore Turkish Folk Dance Ensemble, Chinese Performing Arts of America, Wan Chao Chang Dance Company, Shahrzad Dance Academy, Niosha Dance Academy. Celebration of Peace & Love, produced by Pezhham Akhavass, one of the foremost percussionist and musicians in the world today, will be a unique and captivating experience for fans of beautiful live music and dance.

This exclusive one night only show features some of the most talented musicians and dance in Persian and world music today which include: Pezhham Akhavass (Tombak, Daf), Jesse Shehan (Indian tabla/saxaphone), Faraz Minooei (santour), and Behfar Bahadoran (tar).

Mystical dance, directed by Miriam Peretz, with dancers Hannah Romanowsky, Farima Berenji and Leila Sadeghi of Ballet Afsaneh will transport you. Seated in the beautiful Mayer Theater of Santa Clara University, this concert will celebrate the beauty of peace and love, and be a night to remember.

Sunday December 6, 2009 at 2:30 pm: Ballet Afsaneh at Golden Thread Productions: ReOrient Forum

Ballet Afsaneh performs at the tenth anniversary celebration of Golden Thread, SF's preeminent Mid-East theater production company.
The performance will be on day two of the ReOrient Forum, Sunday December 6th, in Theater Artaud @ 2:30pm.
Ballet Afsaneh will showcase both traditional and contemporary works by featured dance artists/choreographers Miriam Peretz, Wan Chao Chang, and director Sharlyn Sawyer. They are joined for this program by special musical guests- percussionist Pezhham Akhavass, and cellist Moses Sedler, Neema Hekmat, Kaveh Hedayati, Pourya Khademi, and poetry recitation by Shadi Vaezzadeh.

Please join us for an afternoon of Persian and Afghan Dance at the Union City Library by Ballet Afsaneh, a nonprofit performing arts company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The company performs the dance, music, and poetry of the historic Silk Road Regions of Central Asia along with contemporary work based on classical themes. Since 1986 they have performed at major theaters, museums, universities and festivals throughout the U.S.
From the historic crossroads of Eurasia to the intersecting diversity of a new America, Ballet Afsaneh www.dancesilkroad.org programs present eloquent testament to the unique Central Asian expressive arts. Dance is the universal language... Through our dance education children and adults develop appreciation and technique, as well as a deeper understanding for world cultures.
